FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2010 Saratoga County Fair Looking for Talent!

Ballston Spa, NY—

The Saratoga County Fair is looking for contestants for Talent Competitions during the 169th Saratoga County Fair held during the week of the week of July 20-25, 2010.

The Talent contests are open to all ages and types of amateur talent. Individual, duet or group acts may include instrumental music, vocal music, dance, drama, comedy, clown, ventriloquist, magic, impersonation, dramatic reading, gymnastics and storytelling.

The age categories are as follows: 7 & and under contest is Tuesday, July 20; 8 through 12 is Wednesday & Friday, July 22 & 23; 13 and over is Thursday & Saturday, July 22 & 24. “Best of Fair” from all categories will be Sunday, July 25 beginning at 4 p.m.

The 169th Saratoga County Fair invites your Saratoga County School students to display their art and science exhibits at the fair from July 20-25, 2010. Students may also enter projects on their own.

Prizes include ribbons and cash.

Three School Districts with the best displays win awards of a first prize TV & DVD combination, second and third prizes one TV and one DVD; four outstanding student entries receive a cash prize. There are ten honorable mentions for art and ten honorable mentions for Social/Science.

Other categories are: Photography, Graphic Arts & Group Projects. For judging purposes, there will be two age groups; grades K-6 and grades 7-12.

June 9 “Prelude” to launch SaratogaArtsFest 2010
Evening to pay tribute to Pop Art

The fourth annual SaratogaArtsFest will officially raise the curtain for its citywide celebration of the arts with a “Prelude” event at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday, June 9, 6 to 10 p.m. The event will kick off ArtFest 2010, which will offer more than 75 events at venues throughout Saratoga Springs, June 10-13.

The evening will be based on the theme of “Pop Art Warhol Style” and will draw its inspiration from Andy Warhol’s New York City Factory, the artist’s 1960s studio and storied hangout. Honorary chairpersons of the event are Ron and Michele Riggi. The event [...]

Saratoga County Fair is looking for entries, exhibitors, and all kinds of participants. The 2010 Saratoga County Fair Exhibitor Handbooks are printed and available at feed and grain stores, Curtis Lumber, Allerdice Building Supply, AC Moore, Hewitt’s, libraries and town halls in Saratoga County. They are also available on the Fair web site at www.saratogacountyfair.org, at The Saratoga County Fair office at 162 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa and at the Cooperative Extension office, 50 West High Street, Ballston Spa. Deadline for entries is July 1, 2010.

Departments and shows include cattle, draft and saddle horses, goats, bees & honey, farm produce, flowers, culinary, home arts, fine arts, antiques, talent show, sheep, fair pageants, education, Grange, 4-wheel-drive pull and conservation.

First Saturday Arts Night in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, June 5: On the First Saturday of this month, the following local galleries and exhibition sites in Saratoga Springs stay open to the public from 5 to 8pm for artists’ receptions, performances, and other happenings as part of the First Saturday Arts Night. Check with each location for specific information. Receptions are open to the public and free of charge.
