The 2011 Saratoga Showcase of Homes event shaping up to be spectacular, sponsorships now available!

March 29, 2011; The 2011 Showcase of Homes Committee is in full swing planning this year’s edition of the area’s premiere new home tour. The Committee is headed up by Co-Chairs, Lisa Licata-Stoll of Realty USA and Matt Parenteau of Matthew Parenteau Builders. Now celebrating its 16th year, this annual community event has contributed over $650,000 to our local charities.

The 2011 Showcase of Homes will be over three weekends this fall beginning September 17-18, 24-25, and October 1-2. Tickets will be $20. There will be a unique Chef’s “Saratoga Style” event on Friday, September 16 to kick of the festivities. Saratoga Springs, NY – The Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association held elections at the March 16 Annual Meeting,.

The following officers were elected to a two year term: President, Jeff Clark, Ameriprise Financial; Vice President, Tim Holmes, Wheatfields; Treasurer, Rich Richbart, Spa.Net and
Secretary, Mike Sposili, Skidmore College.

Newly elected board members include John Reardon, Compliments to the Chef; Suzanne Voigt, Farmers Market and Linda Johansen, The Adirondack Trust Company Bank. Each will serve a two year term. Continuing to serve one more year in their terms on the board are Joel Reed, Saratoga Arts; Jasper Alexander, Hattie’s; Matt D’Abate, Adirondack Trust Insurance; Christel MacLean, Circus Café, Sperry’s and Realty Saratoga; Paul O’Donnell, Celtic Treasures; Fran Dingeman, Anastos Media and Scott Beale, Grey Gelding.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (March 28, 2011) – March has proven a very lucky month for guests at Saratoga Casino and Raceway, including $124,982 winner John J. Konik of Schenectady who cashed in on Bally’s Reel Mania last Thursday.

On March 24, Konik was playing the $.25 denomination machines and hit the jackpot on a $3.75 bet. Retired from Sears and Roebuck after 39 years of service, Konik was shocked but remained calm, saying that he planned to share the money with his eight children. His wife was by his side, sharing the excitement of the moment and participating in photos.

Within a two-week span, three other guests who agreed to have their names released have each hit over $20,000 jackpots at the casino, and all of those winners have been from the immediate capital district.

The Capital District Fly Fishers (CDFF) proudly announces that they will be holding their annual Fly Casting Clinic. CDFF is an affiliate, not for profit club, of the Federation of Fly Fishers. All proceeds from this event will be for the benefit of the CDFF Conservation Fund.
• The event is offered to anyone 8 years of age or up and
• Who wants to learn how to fly cast or
• Wishes to have their cast evaluated and shown how to improve.

On Saturday, March 19, at 6pm, they will celebrate Purim with “A Night in Persia” Party! Dinner will consist of vegetable tangine, beef tangine, rice, tabbouleh, falafel, grape leaves and desserts. After dinner they will have a Havdalah Service and Megillah Reading; followed by a belly dancing performance by Ayperi-Alizarin, games, pull tabs, music & more. People are encouraged to come dressed in costume.

Saratoga Bridges received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region’s Assemblyman Robert Reilly Salary Fund in Albany on February 16. This invaluable support is instrumental in sustaining their scope of services for 80 individuals who attend their Clifton Park Day Habilitation Program located at 495 Clifton Park Center Road.

The agency prides itself on ensuring that their day programs are therapeutic, rehabilitative and adaptable for all of the individuals they serve. These funds will purchase a Hoyer Lift, which will provide comfort and safety to people who are non-weight bearing and will prevent injuries to medically complicated individuals who have Diabetes, feeding tubes, Arthritis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Osteoporosis, Congestive Heart Failure or have had a recent surgery. By using a Hoyer Lift, staff members will be physically protected and will be able to continue providing consistent care.

Real Housewives of New Jersey Event at Vapor Postponed, Tickets Refunded

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (March 4, 2011) – Due to a scheduling conflict, a previously announced event at Vapor Night Club featuring members of the cast of The Real Housewives of New Jersey has been postponed. The event was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 10. A new date has yet to be determined.

Any guest who had already purchased tickets is being notified and a refund will be available. Guests are welcome to call 518-581-5775 for information on reimbursement.
