Promotion and New-Hire within Group Sales at Saratoga Casino and Raceway

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (April 6, 2012)- Saratoga Casino and Raceway welcomes some staff changes within the group sales department including a promotion and a new-hire.

Colleen Carlson, a Saratoga native, has been promoted to Senior Sales Manager. In her new role, she will oversee all group sales activities while working closely with marketing, food and beverage, racing, Vapor and other key departments. Carlson has been a dedicated and committed member of the Saratoga Casino and Raceway team for over 30 years, with over 20 years experience in sales, catering and event planning. She is very active within the community as the 2012 Saratoga Hospital Gala Benefit Chair, the Vice Chair for the Saratoga Springs Recreation Commission and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Jake’s Help from Heaven Foundation and the Friends of Saratoga Springs Recreation. In 2011, Carlson was honored with the Lisa Niles Distinguished Alumnus award by Leadership Saratoga.

Janine Zappone, also from Saratoga Springs, has been hired to fill the Group Sales Manager position. She comes to the casino from Hotel Ganesvoort where she was working as Senior Concierge. She previously worked at Hotel Roger Williams in New York City and has been in the industry since 2003. Zappone got her start working in hospitality as an event planner for almost 5 years after graduating from Hofstra University. She will wo rk under Carlson, helping to promote and plan group events at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
