The Wellness Doc

Ritalin and other nasty drugs

As a wellness doctor I recommend to all my patients and anyone I come into to contact with to always try natural efforts to get you body to return to its normal, healthy, balanced state.  Some studies state that in the US prescription drugs are overprescribed, up to 70%.  Thats one of the many reasons I have dedicated my life to informing and empowering people to life a wellness lifestyle.  Here are some alarming facts about the most prescribed drug to todays youth...
  • Ritalin, Prozac, Aderol, etc is prescribed to 4,000,000 kids any given school day.
  • Under Federal law Ritalin is a class 2 controlled substance, no different than cocaine, opium, and morphine.
  • Withdrawal symptoms can include depression, paranoia, bedwetting, and even suicide.
  • Since 2000 spending for ADD/ADHD and other behavior disorders has increased by 183% in kids 4 and older and 369% in kids 4 and younger.

Lets try and feed our kids better, get them a wellness coach, get them outside and move.  More drugs are not the answer and are only making the problem grow.  See our webste at www.aacfamilywellness.com for more facts on Ritalin and more proactive strategies to try before giving your child these mind altering substances, there are other options.
