Saratoga Springs - On Sunday, April 21st from 2:00-5:00pm, at the Feneex Gallery at 30 Beekman Street, the opening of the exhibit Art Beyond the Gallery will provide a fresh perspective on what it means to be a contemporary artist within the Saratoga Springs community.
As part of a Skidmore College Anthropology Senior Capstone project and in collaboration with the Beekman Street Arts District and Skidmore College, Marielle Briant presents the art of three thought-provoking artists from Saratoga Springs who will come together for the exhibit opening to share personal insights on questions such as: What is the purpose of a gallery? Where and how is meaning in art created? Is there a public significance in art? How can we as community members be more attuned to the artistic process?
The public is invited to join artists Christopher Brown (film and video), Rivkah Gevinson (photography) and Francelise Dawkins (textile artist) as well as members from both the Skidmore and the larger Saratoga Springs community, in a collaborative collage project led by Francelise Dawkins. For further questions about the exhibit, contact Marielle Briant at mbriant@skidmore.edu
The exhibit is open to all members of the community, and lends a special invitation to those who usually shy away from the art bubble and do not make a habit of frequenting art galleries.
