Saratoga Farms, Pumpkin Patches & Hayrides

Petting ZooEllms Family Farm in Ballston Spa is just a short drive away from downtown Saratoga Springs, offering wholesome family fun and fall activities. Starting in September each year, Ellms' offers corn mazes, trolley rides around the farm, pumpkin patches, hay rides including a special Halloween Hayride Friday and Saturday nights in October, and more holiday fun lasting right until the snow falls. Eagle Mills Cider Mill & Family Fun Park in Broadalbin NY is another local farm with fall fun. Taste their homemade cider and see the process of how it's made. There is also an ice cream mill, country bakery, train rides for the kids, gem stone mining, fossil dig and other attractions, as well as arts and crafts shows during the fall season. Liberty Ridge Farm is the perfect destination for the fall season! There is something for everyone... take a stroll through the corn maze, pick pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, dare yourself to partake in the harvest haunt Friday and Saturday nights in October, or enjoy it all during their fall festival. The Double M Daytime Hayride and Corn Maze just off Route 67 in Malta is a spook-free hayride and corn maze for children who aren't quite up for the scarier Haunted Hayride at night. Your kids will love the petting zoo, bouncy house and fall activities. Call (518) 884-9122 for more information.

Schuyler Farms has outdone themselves with this year's 7-acre halloween-themed corn maze. Their Fall Festival also includes an interactive station where you can pan for fossils and gemstones, feed and pet farm animals and eat something delicious at the Cornfield Cafe. The farm is open Thursday through Sunday in October, with the Field of Screams Haunted Maze open on Friday and Saturday nights through the end of October. Call (518) 695-5308 for more information.

Engelke Farm has the traditional corn maze and pumpkin patch your family loves in the fall, but their 2000+ foot long Pumpkin Patch Zip Line is something you'll never forget! Moses Vegetable Farm in Eagle Bridge once belonged to famous Grandma Moses, and is now operated by her grandchildren and family. They have a great selection of vegetables and produce, as well as a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. Call (518) 686-7729 for more information.

Sunnyside Gardens, family owned and operated since 1981, is serving up warm apple turnovers and cider donuts at this year's Chilrden's Song themed pumpkin patch. Children will love the friendly handmade scarecrows and funny cutouts where they can have their picture taken. Call (518) 584-1034 for more information.

Hanehan's Pumpkins is a locally-owned-and-operated fall harvest business located just 2 miles south of Route 29 in Saratoga Springs, NY at 223 County Route 67 (Stafford's Bridge Road). Offering a wide variety of pumpkins, pie pumpkins, giant varieties, gourds and squash, this fall harvest stand is a true taste of country, overlooking green pastures where patrons may spot grazing cows. Hanehan's specialty items include Jarrahdales, Long Island Cheese Pumpkins, white Silver Moon Pumpkins, and beautiful red "Cinderella" Pumpkins. You can also find many festive decorative items, such as corn stalks, colorful Indian corn, straw bales, broom corn and mums. Customers can also ask about Hanehan's Pumpkins delivery and decorating services. They are open daily through the end of October from morning until dusk.


Food & Wine

Saratoga Farmers Market is open outdoors on High Rock Ave. through October providing locally grown fruits and veggies from local farms, as well as fresh baked goods, jams, honeys, meats, and more. The farmers market stays open year-round, moving indoors in November to the Division St. School at 220 Division St., Saratoga Springs.

Local Wineries are a popular attraction throughout the fall as well! The Adirondack Winery in Lake George offers special fall wine-tastings and promotions on some of their best selections during the fall. The Saratoga Winery is a cozy winery to spend an afternoon, as it feels like it is in the Adirondacks though only minutes from downtown Saratoga. Hang out on the back deck, sip some local wine and enjoy the fresh fall air!
