News > Thoroughbred Spring Training
With temperatures rising and the summer racing season to begin in just a few short months, trainers are anxious to get their thoroughbreds back on the track and in shape for the coming season. Many horses returned to Saratoga on Friday, April 16 for spring training. The horses run their workouts at the Oklahoma track on Union Avenue in anticipation of the upcoming summer meet (despite the chatter that the meet could face complications due to the money NYRA is owed from New York City OTB). The horses are at the Oklahoma track training in the early morning hours at the Saratoga Race Course. NYRA anticipates 900 horses will train in Saratoga this season.
