Set along the Mohawk River, historic Schenectady, NY has wonderful bookstores on the Jay Street pedestrian mall, has a great Irish pub called "Pinhead Susans" and is home to GE where they bring "good things to life".

For some physical activity, head down to Central Park. Softball fields, tennis courts and open lawn to throw the frisbee on bring a sense of country life to the Electric City. You can also bring your bike and ride the marked Bike Trail to see some of the historic buildings and natural surroundings in and around Schenectady.
