The Saratoga Traveler: Day Trips, Weekend Getaways & Hidden Gems

November 2009 Archives

Hey everybody!  Want to get into the Christmas spirit?  Want a picture with Santa and have cookies and hot chocolate while watching the Greenfield Christmas tree being lit?  Then head over to Greenfield On Friday December 4th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
I'll be there!!
This is for those folks who live in the Greenfield/Corinth area.  The First United Methodist Church in Corinth is having The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on December 5th from 12 pm to 2:15 pm.  The church is located at 243 Main St in Corinth.  Tickets for the pageant are $5.00 for all except kids 5 and under are free.
If you donate a pair of mittens, gloves or a hat you will receive $2 off your admission.
So why not spend an afternoon watching an American classic and start celebrating Christmas early!

Operation Joy

If you are looking for an easy way to give back this holiday season then maybe Operation Joy is the answer.  Operation Joy is in its 41st year in serving the community.  Right now they are looking for food, underwear, socks, dish towels, bath towels and wash cloths along with toiletries, hats and mittens.  Or if you would rather make a monetary donation to help families in need it can be made at Saratoga National Bank.

November Blogs

I have been recently unemployed and haven't been able to travel, and therefore had nothing to blog about.  Now I'm starting to work again and with the holidays coming up I thought I would do a series of blogs about things going on in and around Saratoga.

Here is the first one:
For those of you living in Corinth and the surrounding area
The First United Methodist Church on Main Street will be having a Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday November 18th.  The dinner will be FREE and will be served from 4:30-6:30, with a thanksgiving and praise service at  7.
The dinner is sponsored by the Corinth Community Churches ad is for everyone in the community regardless of faith background.
What a great way to share a meal with your neighbors and maybe make a new friend!

Kim Bernard

Moved to Saratoga from St Louis MO (home of The Gateway Arch, Baseball Cardinals and of course Anheuser-Busch) with my family for my husband's job. In the last 2 1/2 years we've had the opportunity to explore and discover day trips, hidden gems, along with some of the most beautiful, historic, interesting and curious places in New England. So come with me and look through a Midwesterner's eyes at Saratoga and beyond. I hope you enjoy your adventures and feel free to share yours and together we can feed our travel bug!
