Under the direction and care of a physician, exercising can enhance the well-being of the mother and the baby during pregnancy. In my Spinning studio, I see expecting mothers and new parents in my classes all the time.
The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommend following these guidelines:
Regular, moderate intensity workouts are the best.
Stretching, stationary cycling, swimming and walking are good choices.
Do no exercise or lay on your back after the 4 month mark.
5 minute periods of warm up and cool down are recommended.
Stop exercising if you become fatigued.
Consult your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.
Avoid excessive heat and humidity while you exercise.
So, with all that being said, there are plenty of ways for new moms to stay active. Try to keep the intensity moderate, hydrate often and try to stay cool.
I do agree with you on here. There is no reason why a mommy can’t be active during her pregnancy. There are a lot of exercises out there that can be done to stay fit. It is for the best interest of the mommy and the baby to stay healthy. Lots of fresh air and plenty of fruits and vegetable would suit her well right?
