New York City Ballet, one of the world's preeminent dance companies, returns to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center every summer. NYCB's 2016 residency will begin on July 20 and continue through July 30. This year, the company will present 16 different ballets by 8 choreographers, and 4 of the pieces will make their SPAC premieres.
Audience members of all ages and backgrounds will love the athleticism and grace of the ballet. As in past years, pre-performance talks and events will take place before performances throughout the season.
The extremely popular Ballet Gala, one of the highlights of the season, will be held on July 23. NYCB Resident Choreographer Justin Peck will present the world premiere of his newest work, Scherzo Fantastique, at this year's gala. All funds raised at the event go to supporting the NYCB residency at SPAC.
