GREENWICH – The Washington County Fair, an agricultural tradition for more than a century with more than 2,000 animal and farm exhibits.
“We’re looking forward to another great year for our agricultural fair,” said Fair President R. Harry Booth.
The fair typically draws between 110,000 and 120,000 every year, making it the second biggest regional event (behind the meet at Saratoga Race Course) of the year and nearly doubling the population of the county.
Motor sports will once again be popular with fairgoers this year. Last night, the motor sports kicked off with the demolition derby and the excitement continues today with the Garden Tractor Pull, Four-Wheel Drive Truck Pull is on Thursday, Out of Field Tractor Pull on Friday, NYTPA Sanctioned Tractor Pull on Saturday and the ATV 4-Wheeler Pull and Big Rig Semi-Truck Pull on Sunday.
Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the week by a variety of artists, including The Refrigerators. Other music includes country act Smokey Green, a longtime fair favorite, The Elderly Brothers, The Front Porch Pickers, Acoustic Blue and many more.
Kids will enjoy more than 40 rides provided by Amusements of America, as well as a variety of family shows by Buffalo and Brandy, Sylvia Markson & the Magic Trunk, Bounce, Ooo La La & Daniel, Buffalo Barfield’s Unherd of Entertainment, Holy Cow and Mr. Pig & Bully. Brand new this year is the Firefighter Training Show, an interactive experience for kids.
Sunday is Family Fun Day, where fairgoers can ride the rides from 11 a.m. to close for just $20.
The fair will be open through Aug. 26 on the Washington County Fairgrounds, located on Route 29 between Schuylerville and Greenwich.
