- The Greenfield cover band formed two years ago. The quartet considers artists such as Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joss Stone and John Mayer to have had an influence on their own sound.
- Members of the band range in age from 16 to 18. Behan and Taylor will both begin studying engineering this fall, at Cornell University and Carnegie Mellon University respectively. Doherty and Nate are both entering their senior year at Saratoga Springs High School.
- Doherty's first public appearance came at the age of six, when she sang the national anthem at Saratoga Polo Grounds.
- In January 2007, Maggie and the Locals cut a rough demo, titled the “The Basement Demo.” The group plans to write more original material and record a higher quality release in the future.
- Their sets consist of a wide array of cover tunes including “Can't Buy Me Love” by The Beatles, “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder, “Rock and Roll” by Led Zeppelin, “Bold as Love” by Jimi Hendrix and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. In total, the group knows approximately 45 covers and can play for up to four hours.
- Maggie and the Locals next three shows are at 8 p.m. on Aug. 4, 6 and 8 at Mare Ristorante in Saratoga Springs. There is no cover charge.
