About the artist:
Audiences in and around New York have been soaking up Joan Taub’s strong, smoky alto voice for the past decade. Her regular accompanist is keyboardist Nate Buccieri, and her repertoire consists of standards, torch songs and Broadway numbers.
Taub counts artists like Holly Cole and Ella Fitzgerald among her major influences. Fans have favorably compared her to Diane Schuur and Maureen McGovern.
The artist has received airplay on 91.1, and performed at many area venues such as Bailey’s Café, Caffe Lena and the Arts Center. Her goal is to expand the amount of gigs she plays.
The singer’s set consists of approximately 30 tunes including “Desperado” by The Eagles, “All in Love Is Fair” by Stevie Wonder, “Maybe this Time” from “Cabaret,” and Patsy Cline’s signature ballad “Crazy,” which was composed by Willie Nelson. Taub knows enough material to play for up to three hours.
In 2004, she put out a six song demo titled “Just Joan.” Taub said she hasn’t had the time to work on another release yet.
Performing is just something Taub enjoys doing on the side for fun. Her full-time job is as a real estate broker at Prudential Manor Homes in Saratoga Springs.
Joan Taub is playing a free, all ages show at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Circus Café in Saratoga Springs; she performs at the venue nearly every other month. In addition, the artist is available for private parties, weddings and other events.
