Pulse - Last chance to see "Not to Scale"

Categories:

On the first Saturday of every month, local galleries and exhibition sites in Saratoga Springs stay open from 5-8 p.m. so people can enjoy artists’ receptions, performances, and other happenings as part of the First Saturday Arts Night.

This month’s First Saturday Arts Night takes place on March 1. Saratoga County Arts Council Regrant Administrator Leigh Ollman believes the event is a great opportunity to mingle with other art-lovers, enjoy refreshments, and support local artists.

Saturday will be the last chance folks have to see “Not to Scale,” an exhibit featuring work by Matthew Peebles and Peter Luber. For the show’s closing, Patrick Stacey will improvise ambient music using his laptop.

“I think this is going to be a really cool thing for people to check out,” Ollman said of Stacey’s performance at the Arts Center.

March is also Children’s Art Month, and to celebrate, the Art District on Beekman St. has partnered with the Children’s Museum at Saratoga and local art teachers. Children’s art shows and opening receptions will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 9 at Artworx Fine Art Gallery, The Beekman Artists Studios, FEAST gallery, Mimosa and Rena’s Fine Flowers.

In addition, art classes for kids are being offered at the Children’s Museum at Saratoga. Carolyn Justice, who teaches children’s classes throughout the year at the Beekman Artists Studios, will instruct children on drawing and painting critters on Thursday, March 13 from 1 to 2 p.m. and also from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. On Monday, March 24, Amejo Amyot will show kids how to create critters in clay from 10 to 11 a.m. and also from 1 to 2 p.m.
