Edna Madeline (Rhubart) Baldwin

Wilton, NY - Edna Madeline (Rhubart) Baldwin of Maplewood Manor, passed away Holy Saturday (Mar. 22, 2008) at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband William J. Baldwin, Sr. predeceased her on August 28, 1969.

Born on October 30, 1914 in Carthage, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward T. and Flora May (Johndrow) Rhubart. She was also predeceased by her siblings John Rhubart (Alma), Helen Delaney (Joseph), Lawrence Rhubart (Marguerite) and by one grandson, Steven Patrie.

Edna worked for many years at Walter's Foods on Central Avenue in Albany. She also worked for The NYS Department of Tax and Finance as a processing clerk until her retirement in 1976.

For many years after her retirement she returned to the Department of Tax and Finance during tax season.

She resided in Albany from 1934 to 2000, then moving with her daughter and family in Wilton until 2003 when she became a resident of Maplewood Manor Nursing Home. Edna was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany for over 60 years. She lived for twenty years at the Thurlow Terrace Apartments in Albany and enjoyed many friendships she acquired along the way. Edna loved to bowl, play bingo, knit, crafts, bake, cook, take trips and devote much of her time to her family.

She will be greatly missed by her family: William Baldwin (Andrea) of East Greenbush, Beverly Patrie of Colonie, Frank Baldwin, Sr. (Andree') of Loudonville and Jean Taylor (Dennis, Sr.) of Wilton; her grandchildren: Mark Baldwin, John Baldwin (Janine), Michelle Waker (Peter), David Patrie, Andrea Lowery (Bill), Melissa Barnes (David), Valerie Zell (Matthew), Frank Baldwin, Jr. (Andrea), Dennis Taylor, Jr. (Melissa), Gregory Taylor, Michael Taylor (Kristin), and Zachary Taylor (Stacy); her great-grandchildren: Liam Baldwin, Alexandra Waker, Sophia Waker, Sarah Decker (Myles), Matthew Lowery, Kristen Patrie, Erica Patrie, Morgan Zell, Matthew Zell, Fallon Zell, Randy Sweet, Mollie Baldwin, Chloe Baldwin, Jennifer Taylor, Shawn Taylor, Jake Taylor, Benjamin Taylor, Jackson Taylor and Ava Taylor, as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 6pm Sunday (Mar. 30, 2008) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373 or burkefuneralhome.com).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Monday in St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Ave.

Memorials donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
