The New Country Toyota Camry, donated to the Saratoga Springs Police Department, is featured in an ad in the August 25 edition of Time Magazine. The Toyota advertisement features Bob McKenna, co-owner and General Manager of New Country Toyota, giving Ed Moore, Saratoga Springs Police Chief the key to the donated car back in 2007.
“This came at a time when the D.A.R.E. program had no vehicle and had to share one,” Moore said. “It was a wonderful gesture from Toyota.”
The ad states that New Country Toyota has been presented with the President’s Award for six years for outstanding sales, customer service and quality. The award honors a select group of Toyota dealers who have shown commitment to their work as well as their communities.
The ad states “Bob McKenna knows there’s truth behind the old saying about an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure.” That is said to be the reasoning behind his donation of the vehicle to the D.A.R.E. program. Previously, the police department used a shared police van to get around the Saratoga Springs schools and teach the program which stands for drug abuse resistance education. According to McKenna, helping mobilize the war on drugs is important to New Country Toyota.
“In order to ensure Saratoga Springs is a safe community, we need to have cooperation from businesses, residents, politicians and community leaders,” Moore said. “All these pieces have come together and I think that is what makes Saratoga Springs such a great community.”
