Clifton Park – Charles W. “Bill” Corey, a long-time resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Schuylerville. He was 89.
Born on Aug. 20, 1919 in Saratoga Springs, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Agnes (Brownson) Corey, Sr. and the husband of Virginia (DuPlease) Corey.
Bill graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and attended Syracuse University School of Journalism. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 325th Medical Battalion and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was employed for 35 years by Reuben H. Donnelly Inc. in Albany as an advertising salesman and retired in 1982.
He was a life member of Saratoga-Wilton B.P.O. Elks Lodge 161 and a member of the NY Telephone Pioneers Club.
Survivors include his wife Virginia; two daughters, Joyce (Corey) Creedon of Boston, MA and Elizabeth “Beth” Bardino of Queensbury; a son-in-law Jerry Creedon of Boston, MA, and grandchildren, Carly and Michael Bardino, both of Gansevoort and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Walter B. Corey.
Relatives and friends may call this morning, Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady’s Chapel in St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue in Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Arthur B. Tuttle, C.Ss.R.
Burial with military honors will be in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Avenue in Saratoga Springs.
Memorials may be made in his name to a charity of one’s choice.
