When Debra Docyk opened the spa in 2006, her vision was an all-in-one business that would provide spa treatments, hair and nail treatments, non-surgical aesthetic procedures and an overall peaceful and relaxing environment.
“I was tired of going all over town to get my hair, nails and facial done. I began to think ‘there’s got to be a better way to do this,’ and that’s when my dream started to become a reality,” Docyk said.
With her background as a registered nurse and her husband Stanley as a physician, Docyk said it was their previous experiences in medicine that led her into the health and beauty field.
“We have enough experience and have done so much research that we believe we can get our clients where they need or want to be with their own beauty and physical health,” she said.
Her spa employs 15 people, including a physician and registered nurse to perform procedures such as Botox injections, laser skin rejuvenation, cellulite reduction and laser hair removal. They also offer individual consultations to determine what services fit the needs and wants of the clients.
“Most of us have been working here since day one, and we really take a team approach to give our clients a comfortable and relaxing experience,” she said.
This season has been a busy one at Sanctuary Spa, and Docyk said she only expects it to get busier during the holidays.
“Clientele is so important to me as a business owner,” Docyk added. “Even during an economic slowdown, we want to see our regular clients come in for their treatments, and we will work with them to make sure that happens.”
She added that her employees strive to build a relationship with the clients and make them an extended part of the Sanctuary Spa family.
Clients can come in for one treatment or the spa offers package deals for a day-long event. For extended visits, there is even food for the guests.
“The whole spa experience is about pampering yourself in a relaxing environment,” Docyk said.
Aside from working at her spa, Docyk is also a member of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Business Association and tries to be as hands-on with the community as possible.
“I feel that it’s extremely important to be involved in the community. To be a part of the community that my staff and clients live in can only better it for all of us,” she said. “We value and respect the Saratoga community and look for opportunities to support it and the people who live here.”
