It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Joseph P. Desmond announces the sudden loss of Joe as a result of a motorcycle accident on November 12, 2008 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Joe, the youngest of the late Mary (Casey) and Leonard A. Desmond, was born in Troy, NY before settling in St. Petersburg several years ago. He is survived by two daughters: Ellen Mary Desmond of St. Petersburg and Andrea Michelle Desmond of Troy, NY. He was also the grandfather of Michael Desmond-Brown. Joe is survived by his brother Michael Desmond (Denise Orologio) of Mechanicville, his sister Marilou Desmond-Pries of Clifton Park and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins (omission by request).
A service was held in Tampa, Florida on Nov. 22, 2008. A private graveside service will be held at the family plot in Mechanicville at the convenience of the family. A memorial gathering to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at The American Legion Post #91, 427 South Main Street in Mechanicville on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
