Born on Sept. 10, 1938 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Chauncy and Alice Reynolds. Dorothy worked as a housekeeper for the Holiday Inn and the Adelphi Hotel on Broadway and later as a nurse's aide at Wesley Health Care Center and the St. John Neumann Residence. An avid garage sale hunter, she would often ride her bicycle around Saratoga Springs seeking special treasures. She attended both St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church and the Church of St. Peter.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Harold H. Nichols, one daughter, Carolyn Nichols and a grandson, Justin L. Gaynor.
Survivors include five daughters, Brenda Baker, Julie Nichols, Deborah Tomaso and her husband Tony, all of Saratoga Springs, Kelly Rychkik and her husband Dave and Denise Verderesse and her husband Nicholas, all of Ballston Spa; two sons, Joseph Nichols of Watervliet and Wayne Nichols of Florida; 15 grandchildren, Kailee Baker, Ian, Casey, Brett and Katie Nichols, Amanda and Alicia Gomez, Matthew Boyark, Michael Tomaso, Jennifer Beachel, Savannah, Alexandra, Christian and Nicholas Rychkik and Christopher Mingl and one great-grandson, Cameron.
Relatives and friends gathered on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes in Saratoga Springs followed by a funeral
service. Burial followed in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Avenue in
Saratoga Springs.
