Teen's death suspected to have been caused by overdose
The death of a 19-year-old man from Saratoga Springs found frozen near the dog park in Spa State Park early Tuesday morning is suspected to have been caused by a prescription drug overdose, officials said Wednesday.

Alexander Carsky-Bush, a graduate from Saratoga Springs high school, was found around 8:30 a.m. roughly 50 yards from the wood-line by a woman walking her dogs that morning.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy said at the time that New York State Police and New York State Park Police were, "treating it as a suspicious death. We have not determined yet whether or not this is a crime,"  he said. "Any time that you find a body in the state park, it certainly is unusual and very significant."

Carsky-Bush was found lying face up in the snow with no signs of visible injuries present.  Officials say it appears the young man walked into the park late Monday night before expiring sometime between the late night and early morning hours. No vehicles were recovered from the scene.

Officials are awaiting the results from the toxicology exam performed during the autopsy, which they expect to have back in two weeks time.  The autopsy was performed at the Albany Medical Center.

Earlier on Monday at 3:10 p.m., an unidentified man entered a CVS Pharmacy on Route 9 in Wilton, where he presented a note to the pharmacist claiming he had a weapon and demanding prescription drugs.  Pharmacists gave the man a bottle of OxyContin before he vacated the premises without further incident.  No weapon was seen at the time.

Murphy has stated that while no connection has been made between Carsky-Bush and the man who robbed the CVS, state police have yet to rule Carsky-Bush out as a potential suspect for the robbery.

The body has since been released and funeral arrangements are being made for this Friday and Saturday.

Once fully completed, the Malta chip fab plant is expected to provide employment for 1,465 people and another possible 4,000 jobs due to growth in the area. The plant is not expected to be fully operational until 2014.

Rec center controversy wages on
The Saratoga Springs City Council voted 4-1 to approve sending plans for the proposed indoor rec center to the city's Zoning Board of Appeals in response to an injunction filed by the Friends of South Side Park in conjunction with a pending lawsuit over the facility and a stop bid order recently filed by the State Department of Labor.

Mayor Scott Johnson who has spearheaded the project said he was requesting approval to have the Zoning Board of Appeals review variances in the building's plans that previously he said were not required.

Commissioner of Public Works Skip Scirocco suggested a backup plan if the lawsuit impeded the city from spending a $1.5 million bond that has to be expended before
April 1.

Johnson said he agreed with Scirocco and added he was working with Commissioner of Finance Ken Ivins to make sure the city had a backup plan in place for the bond.
