On Saturday, August 15th, the historic Lodge Restaurant on the grounds
of Saratoga Gaming and Raceway will host the circus as Saratoga Bridges
holds their 20th annual gala.
Attendees will have an opportunity to bid on a multitude of wonderful items as the community gathers for a gala event that is sure to have something for everyone.
Tickets for the gala are on sale now for $150 ($125 for patrons under 35 years) and can be ordered online at: https://fundraising.saratogabridges.org/gala.asp. Further information about the event can be obtained by calling Saratoga Bridges at (518) 587-0723.
The event begins at 7 p.m., and will feature an appearance by Hall of Fame Jockey Jose Santos and entertainment by the Bindlestaff Cirkus and The Cirkestra. The festive atmosphere will be enhanced by complimentary cocktails all evening, in addition to circus-themed hors d'oeuvres and dinner included with the admission price.
The Auction to End All Auctions
According to Gala chairperson Margie Rotchford, a notable feature of this event is that the bidding is now taking place on 33 unique packages. The bidding will conclude with a live auction at the event. These items can be viewed and bid upon at http://www.cmarket.com/auction/AuctionHome.action?vhost=saratogabridges
Ms. Rotchford, who has been on the Board of Directors of Saratoga Bridges for 4 years, and has chaired the annual Gala since 2007, has particular affection for these packages:
• "Picture Yourself in the Winners Circle" package - A horse lover's dream of a lifetime! A 10% share of a thoroughbred racehorse has been donated by owner Sanford H. Robbins, and you might join him in the winner's circle at Saratoga Racecourse. The stake is in a 2-year-old dark bay colt with bloodlines that encompass champions Mr. Prospector and Smile. The colt is trained by Dominick Galluscio, and is pointing towards debuting in a maiden special weight for NY breds sometime in the 2009 Saratoga race meet!
• Ms. Mia Fonssagrives has designed a custom Pegasus winged horse necklace in sterling silver with .5 carat diamonds on the wings and sapphire eyes.
• Dr. Gerald C. Benjamin, DDS, PC has donated a "Smile Makeover" including porcelain veneers. These are small, thin and beautifully created pieces of porcelain that when bonded to teeth are extremely strong. They are placed to close spaces, whiten teeth, and improve alignment and contour.
Other auction items that should have wide appeal include, but are not limited to:
• 7-day/6-night trips for 2 to Paris and London
• Trip for 2 to California and tickets to the Fox Network's Show "So You Think You Can Dance?" as well as group and private dance lessons at Arthur Murray studios
• VIP box for 5 people for this year's Travers Stakes
• Frankie Flores Signature Saratoga Race Course Painting
• One-of-a-kind sports memorabilia from the New York Giants, New York Jets and others
The live auction will be conducted at the event by Mr. Martin Seelie. Attendees will have the option of dressing casually, or if they are adventurous - as their favorite circus performer!
