Saratoga Springs - Louise G. Barney of Jefferson Terrace passed away on
Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at her residence. She was four months from her
100th birthday.
Born on Oct. 31, 1909 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Margaret Lysett Gorman and widow of the late Foster Stanton Barney, who died in 1955.
A lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, in addition to raising her family, she was employed by the City of Saratoga Springs in the Department of Public Safety and served twenty years with
the Saratoga Springs Housing Authority.
Louise was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her two sons and daughter, Don (Joanne) Barney of Portland, Oregon, Bob (Sherrie) Barney and Linda (Lew) Benton, all of Saratoga Springs; seven grandchildren, Tracy Barney, Matthew Barney, Michael Barney, Megan Barney, Stephen Benton (Michele), Stephanie (Erik) Adamsen, and Thomas Benton and five great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway in Saratoga Springs by the Rev. John D. Kirwin. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. There are no calling hours.
The family would like to thank all caregivers, especially Com-munity Hospice of Saratoga.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of Saratoga Springs.
