Kiara has been with Esperanto for nearly 3.5 years, a mainstay of the incredible 'flat out' late Saturday night/Sunday morning shift that always goes till 4am or later each week. During any one night, several hundred of their signature 'doughboys', slices of pizza, and other specialty items fly out the door. She also is a manager the Wilton Mall branch of Victoria's Secret.
Any Hobbies?
"I play on the Esperanto softball team, which is defending their league title this year. Also, I love to shoot pool - I've been at it since my dad taught me at age 11... I think it's cool that my boyfriend (Matt, who works down the street at Gaffney's) can't beat me.
Favorite thing about the job at Esperanto's:
"It's a great team, all the co-workers are awesome! And I can't imagine a better boss than Will {Pouch}. Also, I met Matt when he worked there a year and a half ago..."
People would be surprised to learn: "I've been playing classical flute for 14 years. Also, my friends know this, but others might be surprised to learn that I am a major freak for anything "Hello Kitty".
You serve many, ahem, inebriated people in the course of an evening... I bet you have some great stupid customer stories.
"Um, yeah, just a few- one that comes to mind is one guy who came in obviously wasted and tried to cut the line repeatedly- which is probably the biggest social taboo at Esperanto's. Anyway, he decides that he's going to wipe out all of us behind the counter. He jumps up to do a ninja kick to prove his point but ended up missing and landing on his butt. It was hysterical."
And of course, no one ever tries to hit on you...
"Never! {laughs}... only 3-4 times a night. I should write a book about all the lame lines... most everyone is nice though, some just get a little wasted and lose their filters..."
Favorite vacation spot:
"Disney World! As a matter of fact, we are going back right after track season to see the things we missed."
A day off finds me doing:
"Spending time with family is very important to me. I am happy that my sister just came in from Austin, TX to visit. My other indulgence is eating at restaurants. My favorites are Sushi Thai Garden and Panera."
In my iPod now:
"DJ Bam Bam, Infected Mushroom and Benny Benasi. I got to see DJ Bam Bam at a rave in Brooklyn recently- that was cool."
Last Movie Viewed:
"Transformers II- which I have to say was a little lame... I usually like more action."
Favorite Local Group:
"Soul Session, definitely. That's a show!"
