Racing season is upon us and the Gala season is in full swing.
Beautiful socialites, dapper dudes and auction items galore are
trademarks of these spectacular events.
This past week we saw, to name a few, the "Gala on Broadway" to benefit the National Museum of Dance; "A Picnic in the Park" to benefit the Little Sisters of Charity; "Back in Time" to benefit Saratoga Hospital; and "Equine Advocates" to benefit Equine Advocates.
While the food is fantastic and the social scene is sizzling at these events, the bottom line is that people are helping people. These events raise tremendous amounts of money for area charities and non-profits and are a key component to the ongoing vitality of these needed organizations. They also help to support our downtown businesses. From gowns and jewelry to food and music, these galas provide a summer boost to the local economy.
If you are a regular supporter of these events, you know who you are. If you have never been to one of these events, now is the time to go and give. They are a wonderful night out and a great way to give back to the community.
With dozens of events throughout the season and thousands of people attending, there are far too many people for me to thank. However I will say "Thank-you" from the charities to a few of the more active gala supporters in our area. They may donate money and time or they may be the driving forces behind the planning and execution of these philanthropic fiestas. If I have missed your name I apologize. But know that your efforts are appreciated and helped a good cause.
Without further ado, thank you to: Margie and Michael Rotchford, Michele and Ron Riggi, Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson, Natalie Sillery and Ted DiPonzio, Candace and Charles Wait, Beth and Jasper Alexander, Julie and Sonny Bonacio, Kevin Smith, Susan and Bill Dake, Kristina Krawchuk, Kristie and Tom Roohan, Jim Levine, Mary Gavin, Debra and Stan Docyk, Scott and Julie Johnson, Michelle Funiciello, Sally King, Nancy and Gary DiCresce, Patty Rich, Vincent Riggi, Christina Fitzgerald, Eileen Guarino, Aime and Tom Richards, Tina Nigro, Lisa Torani, Ed Swyer, Diana Gilbert, Chrissy Goodness, Leslie Valencia, Sylvia Phillips, and Anne Palamountain..to name a few.
