Seniors - Saratoga County Offers Seasonal Influenza Clinics

All of the clinics are strictly by appointment only and appointments can made by calling the centers listed below. Public Health will bill Medicare B for those over 65 years old and others will be charged $15 unless private insurance covers the cost. 

"We usually start the flu vaccines in October because we are approaching the season when people are holed up inside more often and germs are wide-spread," said Terry Stortz, director of preventative health services. "Seniors should get in for an appointment when they can due to the fact that they are at higher risk to catch the flu, which can lead to other health problems like pneumonia." 

After a person is vaccinated they are immune to catching the seasonal flu within two weeks, Stortz added. 

The county is expecting about 2,600 doses of the vaccine, which some have already arrived and the rest of the supply will arrive in mid-October. 

Other options for vaccinations include both private and chain drug stores. Many of the area drug stores will have a vaccination day at a cost of around $20. To get the dates and times of the flu vaccine clinics, please call your area pharmacy.
