Seniors - Upstate Transit of Saratoga

Categories:

Entertainment and sightseeing hotspots are destination hotspots for senior citizens. By booking a group or private tour with Upstate Transit of Saratoga, senior citizens can travel to destinations throughout New York State and across the country with excitement and ease.

According to Christine Kulls of Upstate Transit, group tours are perfect for senior citizens: "It's a good way for them to travel with itineraries that are geared for the length of time they want to spend away and the amount of time they are able to spend walking. They are geared specifically to senior citizens' needs. We can accommodate wheel chairs, walkers and any special needs as well."

A popular option is the Trip of the Month, which brings senior citizens to a variety of destinations such as casinos, museums, sightseeing attractions and cities like New York and Boston.

Upstate Transit hosts regular Mohegan Sun trips, departing every Tuesday and Saturday. Saratoga trip-goers leave at 6:25am from Dick's Sporting Goods near light pole C2 at Wilton Mall. Mohegan Sun is a gaming and entertainment hotspot with over 6,300 slot amachines, fine dining, live entertainment and retail shopping; making this trip is great for senior citizens.

Although walk-ons are welcome, Upstate Transit strongly urges travelers to book a reservation prior to the bus' departure, as the bus cannot leave unless 30 guests are confirmed. The trip cost is $36.

Themed trips are also available. Upstate Transit hosts trips such as their Fall Foliage tour in Vermont, Halloween Haunting tour in Salem, and a Christmas Spectacular to the Radio City Music Hall. Senior citizens can book individual seats for any of these tours by calling Upstate Tours between Monday and Friday.

Upcoming Trip of the Month tours include:

Yours for the Day in Boston on September 19. Travelers can explore the city on their own, visit the New England Aquarium, take a whale watch and shop around Quincy Market. Trip goers will experience a day in the city from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a cost of $55.

Next is a spooky traveler's treat: the Halloween Haunting in Salem, Massachusetts on October 24. Travelers are invited to attend America's most exciting Halloween Festival in the Seaport of Salem. The trip cost is $67 for adults and $60 for children.

Another Yours for the Day trip to Boston is planned for November 21.

Two Yours for the Day trips to New York City on December 5 and 12 also are planned. Trip goers will arrive at the famous Bryant Park at 11 a.m. and tour the city at their own pace until 7 p.m. for a cost of $55.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is also scheduled for December 5 and 12. The tour includes 2nd Mezzanine seats for the show, costing $130 for ticket and travel.

The company also offers group tours for senior citizens that can be planned by request. Senior citizen groups can choose a destination or a series of activities and Upstate Transit will organize a personalized trip to accommodate group members and their interests.

Although senior citizen tours are not available for retail customers, many group organizations will open up their tour package to the public once their members have signed up. If a customer is interested in going on a trip, Upstate Transit of Saratoga will act as a liaison between individuals and groups.

Upstate Transit of Saratoga also offers a variety of regularly chartered trips that are available to anyone of any age.

"Anyone from an infant to a grandparent taking their grandchild on a trip is welcome," Kulls said.
