Saratoga Springs - Gertrude Carpenter of Covell Avenue passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 82.
Born on Aug. 11, 1927 to the late Ernest and Lillian Suttle, she was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs. Gertrude loved to drink coffee and talk on her CB. Known as the "Coffee Queen," she would talk to truck drivers for hours to help keep them awake. She also enjoyed crafts and bowling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her
family.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude is predeceased by her son, Charles W. Carpenter, Sr.; four brothers and seven sisters.
Survivors include her husband Frederick T. Carpenter, Jr. of Saratoga Springs; two sons, Frederick T. Carpenter III and his wife Gerry of Saratoga Springs and Randy J. Carpenter and his wife Cindy of Hudson Falls; one daughter, Linda Omelia of Saratoga Springs; two brothers, Thomas Suttle of Saratoga Springs, George Suttle of Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-granddaughters.
Relatives and friends may call today, Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Carole Miller officiating.
Burial will be in the family plot in Maplewood Cemetery, Weibel Avenue in Saratoga Springs.
