It's 'CURTAINS' For Home-Made Theater

Home Made Theater opens their 25th season with a presentation of CURTAINS, a fun-filled zany valentine to the magic of theater, at the Spa Little Theater in the Saratoga Spa State Park. The show runs weekends October 16 through November 1.
Originally performed in 2007, CURTAINS is the winner of nine Drama Desk Awards and received eight Tony Award nominations that year.

CURTAINS is an irreverent one-of-a-kind backstage murder mystery musical. The setting is in 1959 in Boston at the legendary Colonial Theater where tough-as-nails Broadway producer Carmen Bernstein's (Dawn Oesch) new show is in the midst of its out-of-town tryouts.

Everything points to a smash hit until the show's leading lady is murdered during an opening night curtain call. Lieutenant Frank Cioffi (Matt Streifert - originally played on Broadway by Saratoga Springs' own David Hyde Pierce), arrives on the scene to conduct an investigation.  The lure of the theatre proves irresistible and after romance blooms for the stage-struck detective, he finds himself just as drawn toward making the show a hit as he is in solving the murder. Can a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself?

In his original 2007 Broadway review, Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote:

"As Lieutenant Cioffi lines up and quarantines the usual showbiz suspects after the production's untalented leading lady is murdered on opening night, "Curtains" starts to feel like a theater-themed episode of "Murder She Wrote" or "Columbo."

The director of CURTAINS is Steve Coats who has directed numerous HMT productions. The cast of CURTAINS includes many veteran actors to the Spa Little Theater stage in addition to Ms. Oesch and Mr. Streifert. They include Charlene DeLucia as Jessica Cranshaw, Ron DeLucia as Oscar Shapiro, Kathleen Dunham as Georgia Hendricks, Robin Leary as Jonni Harmon, Dale McKim as Sidney Bernstein, Phil Sheehan as Christopher Belling, Arlette Meader as Bambi Bernet and John Sutliff as Aaron Fox.

Tickets are $27 & $24, student and senior discounts available. There is also an Optional Dinner Package available with The Mouzon House for an additional $26 per person plus tax and gratuity. For all reservations, call (518) 587-4427, or visit
