Varsity Inside Scoop: Saratoga Central Catholic Football Update

Categories:

It's been an exciting week for the Saratoga Catholic Saints. After a hard defeat against Lake George last Friday night, the Saints varsity football season is coming to a close.
The final outcome of the score was 32-0; leaving the Saints with a record of 2-4.

"They out-powered us on the line and were consistent with their running game the entire time. We just couldn't stop them." Junior, safety Tanner Hill said.

Saints put up a tough defense, Juniors Nick Valenze and Jack Keller stayed strong. Valenze, strong side line backer, had a phenomenal game.  Offensively, the varsity football team attempted to move the ball down the field unfortunately with little success.  The Saints are keeping their heads up and spirit alive as they enter their last game of the season.
This Friday night, October 16 at Eastside Rec the Saratoga Saints are playing against the Greenwich Witches at 7 pm.  This game is our homecoming game and concludes our spirit week.

"Its an exciting time, its for the students to show their spirit for SCC and the support of their fellow classmates. Great opportunity to play in front of the home town after being on the road for three weeks," head coach Alphonse Lambert said.

Saratoga Catholic showed their spirit by dressing in purple and gold Friday.  To further show our support we are encouraging everyone to come on down and cheer on our Saints as they face the Witches. This will possibly be the last chance for the football team to make an impact as they return for their second year as a Varsity team in nearly 20 years.

"If we take care of the ball and if we execute our players I think we can play with Greenwich. We have to play good sound fundamental football." Coach Lambert comments.

The Witches will most likely be a tough team to beat. With the Saints determination though, they expect take on this challenge and leave the Witches in a daze. Captains, Dave Mulcahy, Dale Long, Jack Keller, and Dylan Anderson promise to lead their team to a victory.

"They're a good team, but after a hard week of practice and working hard offensively, we aren't going to be giving them an easy game." Captain Dale Long commented.
