Saratoga Springs - Myrtle M. (Bentley) Perkins, formerly of 8 Peck Ave,
passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at the Wesley Health Care Center,
Lawrence Street, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She
was 85.
Born on May 7, 1924 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Emma C. (Wren) Bentley. An employee at the former Thompson's Laundry prior to her marriage to Clarence J. Perkins in September of 1946, she also worked at Wesley after the children had grown, retiring in 1987. A lifelong resident of this city, she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Saratoga Springs. Mrs. Perkins was devoted to her family and loved working in her yard. Her husband, Clarence J. Perkins died in 1971 and she was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, John and William Bentley.
Survivors include her three children, Ellen M. Perkins (Warren Brann) of Groton, CT, Donna L. Swartwout (Gary) of Schuylerville and Raymod A. Perkins (Angie Hether) of Ballston Spa; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Peggy Bentley and several cousins.
Relatives and friends gathered at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes in Saratoga Springs
on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at the funeral home.
Burial was in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Avenue in Saratoga Springs.
