Victory Mills, NY - Rose A. Mitchell, 93, a former resident of Victory
Mills, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Pleasant Valley
Nursing Facility in Argyle.
Born April 21, 1916 in Popolis, Province of Quebec, she was the daughter of Philip Thivierge and Maria LaPierre Thivierge.
Rose had been employed at the Pleasant Valley Facility and was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville. She was the oldest lifetime member of the Fish Creek Rod and Gun Club and the David Nevins Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved traveling, playing bingo, crafts, and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward (Ted) Mitchell, her son Edward (Bud) Mitchell, brother, Joseph A. Thivierge, and sisters, Elaine Thivierge, Dorothy Taras, and Marie Derby; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Maria Riccio (Michael) of Argyle, Patricia Baumbach (Robert) of Center, Missouri, and Ann Gregg of Gansevoort; a brother, Leo Thivierge of Schuylerville; sisters, Janet Gleason and Cecelia Jennings both of Port Charlotte, FL, and Gloria Getman of Victory Mills; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives gathered on Monday, Nov. 2 at the funeral home. A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home in Schuylerville, with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Schuylerville.
The family suggests memorials in her name be made to Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility Activity Fund.
