The Malta League of Arts will hold a fundraiser at the historic Round Lake Auditorium on Friday, August 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. Named "Art Attitudes," the event will touch on the themes of jazz, art and food.
Featured artist for 'Art Attitudes' will be Frankie Flores and his New Orleans jazz series. Flores began his artistic career in New Orleans, becoming a favorite New Orleans artist after working with the Mardi gras celebration and its Jazz Festival. His distinctive style showcases his use of bold, dynamic and vibrant color in his jazz images. Flores has been a force in the Saratoga Arts community for the last decade, first with his gallery in the Beekman Arts District and currently with a new gallery on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. Flores has been named Artist and Gallery Owner of the Year by Saratoga TODAY.
The fundraiser will also highlight the works of local and regional artists in a variety of mediums.
Music will be provided by Saratoga-based jazz group 'Almost Uncommon' featuring player Kyle Jewell on tenor sax, bassist Colin Sullivan, drummer Matt Niedbalski and pianist Matt Moellman. 'Almost Uncommon' has played at the Final Stretch Festival, Summer Concerts in Congress Park, Sunday Brunch at Virgil's House and One Caroline Bistro.
Food will be provided by Lake Ridge Restaurant, the Olde Polish Deli, cake designer Leah Stewart and the Malta League of Arts.
The Malta League of Arts (MLA) was formed as a non-profit organization in 2009 to embrace and encourage continued artistic and cultural development in the Malta community. The President is Town Councilwoman Tara Thomas; Vice President is Cassandra Dooley, the Director of the Bass Manor Museum in the heart of Malta. For more information email maltaarts@gmail.com.
