Mamatoga's Top Five Kid Friendly Events


Circus, ballet, ParkFest and more! This week has a bounty of family friendly events that are not to be missed! Make sure your little girl doesn't miss the chance to be at American Girl Night at SPAC, it is a once in the summer event going on this week only!

1. The circus is in town! Circus Smirkus is back at the Saratoga Race Track Monday and Tuesday, July 9th and 10th. More than two dozen teenaged stars bring youthful exuberance and polished skills from all parts of the country. The show is full of talent and spectacle, with aerials, acrobatics, highwire, juggling, trapeze, clowning and array of brilliant costumes. In its 25th year, Circus Smirkus is the only American youth circus to put on a full-season tour under its own big top, a 24-meter, 750-seat, one-ring tent in the European style. The Saratoga Springs shows are presented by The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs. Shows will be at 1 PM and 7 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults (13+) and $17 for children (2 to 12) and are available at Crafters Gallery in Saratoga Springs, on the Circus Smirkus website or by calling 1-877-SMIRKUS. 2. Tuesday, July 10th is Family Game Day at the Saratoga Springs Public Library from 11:30-1pm. Admission is free to join them for indoor games in the Dutcher Community room. 3. It's American Girl Night at the NYC Ballet at Saratoga Performing Arts Center this Wednesday, July 11th at 8pm. Presented by Emma Willard School this great family event is one of SPAC's most popular nights. SPAC and American Girl Place, NY host a celebration for girls and their families. Girls are encouraged to bring their dolls and experience an evening of music, American Girl crafts, pink lemonade, sugar cookies, classic photo booths and American Girl Doll giveaways. This year meet American Girl Doll, McKenna! All kids are $5 for the lawn for this performance. 4. Friday, July 13th is Family Night at the NYC Ballet at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, performances that night include Russian Seasons (Desyatnikov/Ratmansky), In the Night (Chopin/Robbins) and Firebird (Stravinsky/Balanchine & Robbins). 5. This Saturday, July 14th is Wilton's Community Day ParkFest 2012 at Gavin Park from 11am to 9pm. Get ready for an exciting, fun-filled day, which includes a very eclectic craft fair, amusement park rides, food vendors, contests, live music, shows and is topped off with an awards ceremony and a fantastic fireworks display at dusk!
