Darkness has set, and children in their pajamas board a magical train on a frosty holiday evening, anticipating the adventure that awaits them.

The train conductor punches a hole in their golden tickets, which bear the name of the train, "The Polar Express." Cheery music plays as the train's chefs do a merry dance while delivering hot cocoa and cookies for every child, and the doubting hobo wanders around the train.

The Polar Express Golden Ticket

The destination is the bright and mystical North Pole, where holiday magic is in the air, and Santa and his elves climb aboard. Santa delivers a silver bell to each child, which only rings if they believe. The elves join in the merriment, singing Christmas carols, as the magic of the season comes to life for every boy and girl.

It may sound like a scene from a movie (and actually, it is), but for the first time, children will be able to experience this adventure first hand in Saratoga Springs this holiday season. Throughout November and December, the Polar Express story is being brought to life by the Saratoga North Creek Railroad without missing a single one of the important details above.

Fiat Feminae Swim WearWhat's sexier than a little lingerie? Well, probably nothing... but sexy swimwear would definitely be a close second!

Now Saratoga's suddenly popular new lingerie shop, Fiat Feminae has just added swim wear to their collection!

So ladies, if you are a fan of their amazing lingerie collection, you will definitely want to check out their swim wear when it hits the shelves. If you have been there, you know that they somehow seem to magically know what is the perfect fit for you to make you look your best, and I'm sure it will be the same for their swim wear.

But what makes this swim wear so special is more than just its sexy appeal...

Yesterday I asked our Saratoga Springs Facebook Fans to vote for whichever of the five Halloween costumes they thought were the sexiest - for men. (We've already done one for the ladies). Over 100 people offered their opinion, and the results are in!

There have been rumors and chatter on the Skidmore blogs and Facebook (saw it on Skidmore Unofficial first) that Bruce Springsteen (aka "The Boss") and his son were on the Skidmore College Campus on Tuesday, the 18th of October. Did anyone catch a glimpse of them?

Over the past couple of years Saratoga First Night has grown to be a huge, city-wide New Years celebration with a wide range of events taking place all over Saratoga Springs. This year they are adding more to the schedule, including an ingenious installation that requires YOUR help!

Patrons, make sure to have that camera ready to whip out if you plan on taking a drive into the scenic town of Charlton, Saratoga County....and better bring your appetite too! The Charlton Tavern is one of those cozy, inviting yet spacious dining establishments that makes you want to linger long after your meal is finished (and I expect it won't last long on your plate....delicious!) The "tavern", as it's known to locals, was demolished by fire a few years ago but has been completely rebuilt and refurbished; amazingly, it's lost none of it's famed charm and character and is better than ever! CharltonTavern.gif

The tavern has a popular happy hour on weeknights, with $2 off beer and wine; the kitchen is ready for your order anytime and I've yet to have a dish that didn't satisfy (insider secret: try the calamari and ale-battered haddock!) Currently, live acoustic music will be performed for your listening pleasure on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-?.

As much as I love the tavern in any season, I can't wait for cooler nights and downright winter, as they keep those fires blazing and the food and drinks coming. It really doesn't get much better than this! For more information: charltontavern.com;
call 518-399-9951; closed Mondays.

I'm betting you'll be a regular, too!
