The Saratoga Snow Train Chugs Skiiers To North Creek!

Cold air outside keeping you inside? Escape your cabin fever on the Gore Mountain Ski Train, where the journey is just as exciting as the destination.

In its inaugural year, the Saratoga & North Creek Railway is awakening an excursion 70 years forgotten. The railway is offering a two-hour-long trip along the same train route that the last ski train in Saratoga took in 1942.

The ride brings you on a scenic journey through the natural beauty of the Adirondacks in winter. From your comfortable seat on the train, take the time to appreciate your view (something you definitely can't do when you're trying to drive!)

While you're relaxing and viewing, take some time to savor another special feature you can't enjoy in a car - an a la carte breakfast in the morning, and dinner and dessert on the return ride!

Worried you can't fit skis on the train? Don't worry - the train has plenty of room for skis, snowboards, luggage and more. If you don't have your own skis, you can of course pick up a pair of skis in your size from the mountain when you arrive. There's no end to the benefits of taking the train for your next winter trip to Gore Mountain!

When can I go?

On December 30th, the Saratoga snow train took its first run, and continues to run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the end of March. This includes two Mondays: MLK Day (today) and President's Day on February 20th.

The train runs early, leaving early at 7am from Saratoga Springs Amtrak Station and arriving in North Creek at 9:20am where there is a free shuttle that takes you to Gore Mountain. That leaves plenty of time to enjoy the slopes before the train departs at 4:30pm, arriving home at 6:45pm. If you plan on staying overnight or longer, you can also choose one-way tickets.

Snow Train Passes and Packages

Gore Mountain and the Saratoga & North Creek railway have teamed up to offer special packages that include round-trip and day passes. For passengers who are 21 and over, the packages include two free drink passes for a relaxing addition to the end of the day.

Packages start at $70, with lower prices of seniors, youths 13-18, and children 2-12. There is also a special offer for students to buy a 5-ticket package for $99. Each train can carry up to 800 passengers in it's vintage coach and full-length dome cars.

If you're not a skiier, North Creek is full of its own special charms. You can sample new flavors at barVino's wine-tasting, listen to live music from Fingerdiddle, try the local game and fishing, and discover more winter excitement you've never found before!

The Snow Train offers non-skier round-trip tickets for $30 in coach seating and $55 for the Dome.

Beat the gloom and get out of the house - enjoy the special gifts the Adirondacks have to offer, from the scenic locomotive rides, downhill skiing on Gore Mountain, and the unique appeal of North Creek.
