The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) released the new logo for the 143rd running of the Travers Stakes earlier today.
The new logo shows a silhouette of a horse and jockey on top of the signature Travers Canoe.
The canoe that sits in the pond in the Saratoga infield has been a part of the Travers since 1961. Every year the canoe is painted with the winners colors from the Travers Stakes.
The 143rd running of the famous $1 million race known as the "Midsummer Derby," will be held on August 25. But people don't have to wait until then to have a good time for the Travers. The Travers Festival will be running from Saturday, August 18 - Sunday, August 26, 2012.
