December 2012 Archives

dba-gift-card.jpgStill looking for a last minute Saratoga holiday gift or some extra stocking stuffers? You can put the shopping bags down because a gift that everyone can enjoy is a Saratoga Springs Downtown Gift Card.  These gift cards can be used at any participating business that is a member of the Downtown Business Association (DBA).

You can purchase a DBA gift card at the Adirondack Trust Company and all of its branches. The gift cards can be used at over 120 participating Downtown Business Association member businesses in Saratoga Springs!

The DBA is using a gift card instead of the paper gift certificates used the previous 20 years. The paper gift certificates are still being accepted at participating Saratoga businesses. New gift cards are available in increments of $5 with a minimum value of $10 and a maximum value of $500.

The gift cards make a great gift for your family, friends clients, teachers, coaches, or anyone else you're buying for.

If you get a Downtown Saratoga Springs gift card for the holidays, where will you use it?

Belmonte Builders, a home development business from Clifton Park, has started construction on a new development in Saratoga Springs. The new 18 lot neighborhood will have a nostalgic feel with street lights, sidewalks and curbs. The name of the new Saratoga Springs development will be McKenzie's Way.

jingle shelves.jpgA few local teen musicians are donating their time this holiday season to help give back to the community at the upcoming "Jingle Shelves". The musicians are donating their time to help get their peers involved in giving back and to stock the shelves of the food pantry at the Franklin Community Center. Radio station 100.3 The Point and Saratoga Guitar are helping put on this event at Saratoga Music Hall.

The three bands performing are The Dependents, Bridgette Guerrette, and Vontus. All three acts consist of teen musicians that all have the same goal: get concert-goers to donate food to give back to the community. Admission to the concert costs one non-perishable food item or new, unwrapped gifts and stocking stuffers for teens.

I was able to ask Saratoga Guitar's Matt McCabe a few questions to get more information about the concert as well as other ways to donate.

Dig out that Santa Suit from the closet, and join the local community in getting together for the public good as well as personal pleasure at the Inaugural Saratoga Santacon on December 22nd!

Never heard of 'Santacon' before? On the event's Facebook page, it is defined as "a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year for absolutely no reason."

So what do you do at a Santacon? That's easy...
