{"id":476,"date":"2017-02-15T11:06:33","date_gmt":"2017-02-15T11:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/daily-planet-arthur\/?p=476"},"modified":"2017-11-08T13:40:21","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T18:40:21","slug":"gathering-rock-film-screening-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/daily-planet-arthur\/2017\/02\/gathering-rock-film-screening-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Gathering Rock Film Screening Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Gathering Our Hearts at Standing Rock<br \/>\nSaturday, February 18th at 8pm<br \/>\nThe Arts Center<br \/>\n320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Culled from 18 hours of interviews with 33 people at Standing Rock &#8211; including youth, mothers, grandmothers, grandfathers, First Nation people and non-Indian supporters \u2013 <em><strong>Gathering Our Hearts at Standing Rock<\/strong><\/em> is an ongoing documentary project, still being shot on location, chronicling the story of the protesters at Standing Rock and their connection to the history of the American Indian Movement on their treaty-given lands of the American west. <\/p>\n<p>Filmmakers Fidel Moreno and Rick Kariolic asked the water protectors of Standing Rock what they want to tell the world about their initiative to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) from crossing the Oglala Aquifer and being installed under the Missouri River where it forms the Lake Oahe reservoir, which provides the tribe\u2019s drinking water. A small group of Sioux youth started this encampment, dedicated to peaceful action to protect the water.
