Steeped in the roots of gospel, jazz, and blues, Mark & Jill is a duo with traditional and original songs featuring seasoned Saratoga blues artist and NY Blues Hall of Fame inductee Mark Tolstrup accompanied by sultry vocalist Jill Burnham. Mark and Jill meld their vision and talent for a taste of New Orleans meets Austin. This is where the Delta meets the Rio Grande. Over a haunting slide guitar, their voices soar and blend in harmony. Mark & Jill bring a fresh original interpretation to the earliest roots of the blues. Their original songs deal with both the hard realities of life and the joys of being alive. Mark & Jill are two times winners of the Capital Region Blues Network Solo/Duo Blues Challenge.
Known for her soulful vocal style and accomplished fingerpicking, Erin Harpe plays foot-stomping down-home acoustic blues. Her shows embrace the great country blues styles, from the Delta to the Piedmont, with a fiery energy that gets the crowd grooving. As a teacher and performer, Erin has earned prestigious accolades, including winning “Blues Artist of the Year” twice (in 2019 from the New England Music Awards & 2012 from the Boston Music Awards). Tonight Erin will perform with her husband, bassist Jim Countryman, as the Erin Harpe Country Blues Duo for an intimate performance at Caffe Lena. The duo’s 2020 album “Meet Me In The Middle” won the prestigious “Album of the Year” from the New England Music Awards.
