Surrender Day, 2018 will take place at Fort Hardy Park, Ferry Street, Schuylerville, on Wednesday, October 17, beginning at 10:00 am.

This annual event commemorates the surrender of British Gen. John Burgoyne to American Gen. Horatio Gates, thus ending the 1777 Battles of Saratoga. The colorful historical celebration on the banks of the Hudson River will feature several re-enactors, and include period music and cannon salutes by the 2nd. Continental Artillery.

The keynote speaker will be well-known impersonator Paul Stillman portraying Benjamin Franklin, speaking on his diplomatic role as an emissary to France following the American victory. Members of the Schuylerville Central School fifth grade will be reading their own essays about the Battles. Several notable State and Local dignitaries will also be in attendance.

This outdoor celebration is weather dependent, and will not take place in the event of severe weather.
