SUSTAIN: KEYBOARD FANTASIES
SUN, OCTOBER 13 at 2:30PM
Sustain | A free documentary film series featuring legendary figures in music
Part biopic, part tour documentary, Keyboard Fantasies tells the story of Beverly Glenn-Copeland, a Black transgender septuagenarian and musical genius who finally finds his place in the world. In 1986, Glenn wrote and self-released an album featuring seven tracks of ahead-of-its-time folk-electronica hybrid music. When Glenn receives an unexpected email in 2016 from a rare-record collector in Japan inquiring about copies of Keyboard Fantasies, everything changes. Now signed to a major indie label, Glenn's emergence from obscurity unfolds as an intimate coming-of-age story that spins the pain and suffering of prejudice into rhythm, hope, and joy.
Presented by the Arthur Zankel Music Center with the generous donation of Jimmy Zankel '92 and the Zankel Music Fund.
This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
