It’s always a hassle finding something to wear during the holidays–there’s nothing worse than being invited to a fabulous soirée realizing that your closet is as empty as Lindsay Lohan’s stocking (she’s been naughty this year)!
Let’s not forget about that one friend or relative at holiday parties with the camera glued to their hand, snapping hundreds of photos throughout the night. My camera hungry relative is my aunt Betty–with the bad angles and the action shots of me stuffing my face with pumpkin pie (sorry Betty, but it’s true)! I am determined to not break the camera lens this year–who’s with me ladies?! Coming up with creative outfits can be hard, so I’ve compiled some ideas to wear to holiday gatherings.
What to wear to…
1. Family get-together
When I get together with my family, I like to wear something cute, but comfortable. There is a way to look stylish, without sacrificing the comfort we all want during the holidays. I mean, who wants to be stuffed into a tight dress when you’re scarfing down Christmas ham, or indulging in some creamy eggnog? Not me, that’s for sure! Try wearing your favorite leggings with a long sweater, bold jewelry and knock-out boots. That way, you’ll be festive and giving yourself some room to breathe!
2. The Swanky New Years Eve Bash!
To start off the New Year, make a statement with your outfit! Whether it’s a sparkly dress, bright colored shoe or an ornate headband, let the party know that you have arrived! Just remember; only wear one statement piece at a time. You don’t want to wear too many trends at once–you could end up looking like a cast member from the Jersey Shore (tacky)! Below are some amazing statement pieces to add to your New Year’s Eve ensemble.
3. A Conservative Occasion
During the holidays, dressing conservatively is sometimes required. Maybe you’re going to a religious service, or maybe your grandparents consider showing your ankles risqué. This could be the perfect opportunity to sport a maxi dress or skirt! A trend that makes you look long, lean and is oh, so comfortable! To keep warm, layer your outfit with tights. If you’re feeling daring, try textured tights or rockin’ a fun color!
4. Comfy & Cozy
What is the #1 fashion essential we need during the holidays?! Pajamas! Seriously, who doesn’t love curling up on the couch in warm PJ’s with a cup of hot cocoa next to a roaring fire? It’s a family tradition in the Bannon household to get new cozy pajamas every year and wear them to bed on Christmas eve. It’s something I look forward to every year. Last year, my parents bought me PJ’s with martini glasses on them–so classy!
All in all, the holidays are about spending time with the one’s you love. I hope this blog post helps you conjure up some ideas to stand out….
