I know it’s only February, but I am so ready for a vacation! The Bannon family is taking over Spain in June and I couldn’t be more excited! Naturally, all I can think about is what I am going to wear. Dresses and shorts and skirts, OH MY! It’s already spring in the fashion world, give me a break!
I probably don’t need anymore clothes, but I defiantly have a few wants. I guess I am already going to break my New Year’s Resolution to not buy anymore clothes (like that was ever going to work out). What are my must haves for my exotic vacation? Well I’ll tell you…
1. Color Blocking Maxi Dress– I am dying to try this trend. Maxi dresses are one of my favorite items of clothing. Hello long, lean and fabulous! Color blocking is such a hot trend right now and it’s definitely on my fashion to-do list. Check out this gorgeous dress I found. It’s not available in stores yet, dag-nabbit! This season is all about mixing bold colors, in a simple way. Think bright pinks, greens, purples, blues, oranges, etc.

2. Adorable Beach Cover Up– Normally, I wear gym shorts and a t-shirt to the beach. Not anymore! I really want a bright colored beach cover up to make me look like a sun goddess.

3. Pastel Jeans– I can’t get enough of this trend. Absolutely darling! Some jean trends are just stupid. Dare I mention tye-dyed jeans or jeans with so many holes and rips, you look like swiss cheese?! But pastel denim is so classy, girly and add the perfect POC (pop of color). If your’e going to try this trend, I recommend paring your pastel jeans with a simple top. Remember, don’t wear too many trends at once!

4. Susana Monacco Dress– This line is absolutely amazing. Susana Monacco dresses are made for comfort. You won’t find a dress that’s more flattering and easy to wear. The tank pleat dress looks good on every body shape! The best thing about these dresses? They don’t wrinkle and are machine washable. When I went backpacking in Australia, I took 3 of my Susana Monacco dresses and they still look brand new! The fabric held up, even when I was attacked by killer Kangaroos! Okay that was a joke, but, trust me, the quality of these dresses are impeccable. For a cute day time look, wear your favorite sandal, a light summer scarf and a bold bracelet. For a sexy night time look, wear your Susana Monacco with heels and a bold statement necklace. You can’t go wrong!

5. Wedge Heels– Wedge heels are my favorite type of heel because they are so comfortable. I am not a natural in heels like some girls…how do they do it?! I have always been tall, so I never wore sky high heels because I would always tower over everyone, girls and guys! I am getting the hang of it now, but wedge heels are a great transition for someone who doesn’t glide like Kate Moss down the runway. I love how these wedges are so simple, but extremely stylish at the same time. The sandy color is a great neutral and will complement most any outfit.
6. Sun Glasses- Obviously we all need some cool shades to protect our eyes from the blazing sun. But I don’t need new eyewear for my Spanish vacation…I need a charm necklace! Isn’t this necklace fantastic? It’s so unique and just puts me in a sunny mood looking at it! I would like this necklace because when I’m not on an dreamy vacation I can put it on and reminisce about my past travels and look forward to future adventures!

7. Boho Hat– I am not really a hat person, but when you’re going to be in the sun, having some coverage is good for your skin. You don’t want to be a wrinkly o’l bag! It’s also so important to wear sun screen. Even if you “don’t burn” (I don’t believe people when they say that) you can still fall victim to sun damage, making your skin look as weathered as my vintage Frye boots…and that ain’t a compliment! Having a nice sun hat can help protect you from the scorching rays when you’re walking around town.

Need some outfit inspiration? Check out my perfect traveling outfit below. If you didn’t think you could mix patterns in an outfit, think again! A light cotton t-shirt is a must have for a vacation. Shorts that aren’t too short are better for walking (and classier). Comfortable sandals are a necessity for exploring a new city, the bold ring and colorful scarf give the outfit a POC (pop of color) and the medium sized bag is an essential because it’s big enough to fit all of the souvenirs you’re going to buy! Lastly, complete the look with hot shades…sunglasses make everyone look cool. If you’re going on vacation, bring me back a kay chain please! Seriously, I collect them.

Well, I can hear Spain calling my name. You know what I’ll be doing to prep for the occasion! I swear I’ll shop in moderation. Remember, the most important aspect of a vacation is to just RELAX! Where is your next vacation?
And that’s my two cents!
Dear Ms. Fashionista,
We must shop before the big departure. It is obvious I will need your expert guidance in choosing some travel apparel.
Have yours call mine to make a date!
Jan,
I’ll have my people call your people. I’m thinking Brazilian bikini’s? Haha! Love ya!
Maura, Great ideas! I absolutely LOVE that color blocked maxi dress. They are also my favorite summer choice. A long, flowy, cotton dress always keeps you cool and chic on a hot summer day!
Hey Girlfriend,
Thanks for reading! Aren’t maxi’s just perfect? Summer will be here before you know it!
xoxo,
M
