It\u2019s official, diet culture has taken over medicine, media, nutrition, and fitness.<\/p>\n

Its deceitful messages<\/a> have etched their way into healthcare and have perpetuated body size stigma, weight bias, and substandard medical care.<\/p>\n

As concerning, many nutritional and medical experts and fitness gurus are promoting orthorexic and disordered eating practices in the name of health. I believe this form of diet culture is contributing to a rise in one of the most dangerous mental health disorders, second only to opioid addiction.<\/p>\n

For this reason, it is imperative to get to the root cause of what may be fueling our societal acceptance of disordered eating patterns, dietary obsession, and eating disorders. We must understand diet culture in order to empower ourselves against it.<\/p>\n
