Poetry
Poetry is the voice of the soul as it
travels through the heart.
Poetry sing out its observations and
praises to its muse.
Poetry connects the past to the present-
preserving each moment on parchment.
Poetry processes hidden truths,
adjusts points of view and
sharpens one’s focus.
Poetry illustrates the indescribable.
Poetry…
narrates the journey of the heart.

What does poetry mean to you? What poems or poets come to mind? Why do you connect with them? Is it the message? The word choice? The emotion? Please write and tell me about your relationship with poetry.
As for my relationship with poetry, let’s just say it’s a bit one-sided. Although I have several favorite poets, (Frost, Angelou, Hughes, Dickenson and Blanco), I don’t read a lot of poetry. For me, poetry is a personal expression- a conversation between the poet and herself or a love letter to another. Whenever my pen connects with the page, it’s poetry that spills most freely from my heart. Writing is the tool that kept me sane, eased my pain, and helped me to connect with myself and others. Poetry is the language I speak. Stay tuned to my blog if you speak, (or listen), in poetry, too. My goal for each week is to guide, inspire and prompt your inner poet to emerge. Looking forward to being your muse!
