Continuing its commitment to provide
\naccess to affordable health care to millions
\nof uninsured Americans, CDPHP has
\nsubmitted its application for participation
\nin the New York Health Benefit Exchange.<\/p>\n
“CDPHP is well-positioned to provide
\nhigh-quality, affordable health care coverage
\nthrough the New York Health Benefit
\nExchange,” said Dr. John D. Bennett, president
\nand CEO, CDPHP.<\/p>\n
“In many ways, we began the process of
\nhealth care reform thirty years ago when we
\ncreated a physician-guided, not-for-profit
\nhealth plan,” he said. “Today, we are continuing
\nthat journey with our participation
\nin the Exchange and our commitment to developing
\ninnovative products and services
\nthat will lead to better health, better care,
\nand lower costs.”<\/p>\n
Under the Affordable Care Act, statebased exchanges are being created to provide a new and competitive marketplace where families, individuals, and small businesses can compare products, calculate costs, and purchase health insurance.<\/p>\n
Coverage can be purchased through the state-based exchange, or by calling CDPHP directly, beginning in October and it will be effective January 1, 2014.<\/p>\n
Officials said the plans have been bucketed into metal tiers set forth by the federal government. CDPHP will offer platinum, gold, silver and bronze levels of coverage. CDPHP officials said each plan level offers the same set of essential health benefits, including:<\/p>\n
Ambulatory and emergency services; rehabilitative and habilitative care; hospitalization; laboratory service; maternity and newborn care; preventive and wellness services; mental health and substance abuse service; chronic disease management; prescription drugs and pediatric services. The New York Health Benefit Exchange will review the CDPHP application for certification to participate as a qualified health plan.<\/p>\n
