The Malta Business and Professional
\nAssociation will host its fourth annual 5K
\nroad race on Saturday, Sept. 7, starting at
\n8:30 a.m. in Malta’s two technology parks:
\nNYSERDA’s Saratoga Technology and Energy
\nPark and Luther Forest Technology
\nCampus.<\/p>\n
With GlobalFoundries’ Fab 8 facility now
\nlocated in the Luther Forest Technology
\nCampus, that company has become the title
\nsponsor of the event, which last year raised
\nwell over $16,000 to support the Saratoga
\nRural Preservation Corp. and Malta’s emergency
\nfirst responders.<\/p>\n
Started on 9\/11\/10, the event is a way to
\ngive back to the veterans and EMS responders.
\nAs participants go out on the course,
\nthe marshals helping direct traffic will be
\nmostly comprised of volunteers from the
\nveterans home in Ballston Spa.<\/p>\n
Beyond sponsoring the event, sponsors are now promoting the race to their employees to build a team that will participate in this year’s event.<\/p>\n
The event starts at Hudson Valley Community College TEC Smart located within NYSERDA’s Saratoga Technology & Energy Park (STEP). The course then takes participants south though Luther Forest Technology Campus (LFTC) and by the new town of Malta recreation ball fields.<\/p>\n
Once through LFTC, participants go through Global Foundries campus. Almost one mile of the 3.1 miles will be on Global Foundries campus, race officials said. Once through the campus, participants finish back through STEP and TEC Smart.<\/p>\n
Participants may stick around after the event to enjoy post- race food provided by Price Chopper and Lake Side farms. Also tours of HVCC TEC Smart will be available throughout the morning.<\/p>\n
The first 500 runners\/joggers\/walkers are guaranteed a long-sleeve moisture wicking shirt and a running hat provided by Adirondack Trust Co.<\/p>\n
