The owner of the Village Pizzeria and Ristorante
\nin East Galway for the last 25 years will soon open a
\nnew place on Ballston Lake in September.<\/p>\n

Sandra Foster said is converting the former
\nGood Times Lakeview Restaurant on Ballston Lake
\nto a more modern version of Village Pizzeria. It is
\nexpected to open in September.<\/p>\n

The new restaurant, which will be called Villago,
\nwas the next logical thing to do, Foster said, since
\nthe restaurant in Galway could not be expanded
\nanymore.<\/p>\n

She and daughter Jessica Marcione will work
\nwith construction partner Kurtus Zarnofsky to
\nconvert the building. The vision their going for,
\nFoster said, is “classic, contempo Italian cuisine.”<\/p>\n

“It’s a group effort,” she said.<\/p>\n

Many renovations will take place, Foster said,
\nboth inside and outside the restaurant. Her goal
\nis to “embrace the lake,” which means adding
\nmore outside deck seating areas and replacing
\nthe font windows of the restaurant for better lake
\nviews, she said.<\/p>\n

Settling on the Ballston Lake location was the
\nmost practical, Foster said, because of all the
\ndevelopment in the Malta area. “The area is alive,”
\nshe noted.<\/p>\n

Behind the restaurant’s property are several
\ndevelopments with hundreds of homes, she said,
\nwhich should bring in customers.<\/p>\n

Although Villago might look different than
\nFoster’s current East Galway establishment, she
\nsaid the recipes that everyone has come to know
\nand love, like the award-winning wood-fired pizza,
\nwill remain the same. Several new menu additions,
\nhowever, will be added.<\/p>\n

“Along with our (regular) menu, we do a lot of
\ngluten free and whole wheat (meals),” she said. Locally
\ngrown produce will also be used to create the
\npopular homemade dishes, which is what Foster
\nsaid is currently done at Village Pizzeria.<\/p>\n

Seasonal appetizers, sandwiches, Panini’s,
\nhamburgers, turkey burgers, bison burgers and
\nveggie burgers will be on the menu, she said, and
\ncustomers can expect to see more fish and seafood
\nchoices as well.<\/p>\n

The new Italian family eatery will have a full
\nbar, Foster said, unlike Village Pizzeria, which only
\nserves beer and wine. Customers are welcome to
\ncome and have a “mojito on the deck,” she said.<\/p>\n

People can preview Foster’s wood-fire pizza at
\n“A Taste of Malta” event on July 17. Several area
\nrestaurants will be serving samples of their food
\nat Hudson Valley Community College’s Tec-Smart
\ncampus in Malta, 345 Hermes Road, sponsored by
\nthe Malta Business & Professional Association and
\nThe Adirondack Trust Co.<\/p>\n

The event takes place 5:30-7:30 p.m. Foster said
\nit will be a great opportunity to meet and greet
\npeople in the area who she hopes will become
\nfuture customers.<\/p>\n
